A record 14 faculty members from the Weill Cornell Medicine Brain and Spine Center have been named to the 2019 list of New York SuperDoctors and Rising Stars, an elite roster of physicians selected by their peers as the best in their field.
In addition to professor and chairman Philip E. Stieg, Phd, MD, this year’s list includes all four of our department’s vice chairs – Dr. Mark Souweidane, Dr. Michael Kaplitt, Dr. Jeffrey Greenfield, and Dr. Eric Elowitz – as well as Dr. Theodore Schwartz, Dr. Roger Härtl, Dr. Susan Pannullo, Dr. Howard Fine, Dr. Athos Patsalides, Dr. Jared Knopman, Dr. Ali Baaj, and Rising Star Dr. Babacar Cisse. One of our voluntary faculty members, Dr. Viviane Tabar at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, was also named to the list.
This year’s honorees join several of our faculty members who have been previously named to the list of Rising Stars in neurosurgery: Dr. Rohan Ramakrishna, Dr. Ning Lin, and Dr. Kai-Ming Fu. Drs. Kaplitt and Schwartz are also members of the New York SuperDoctors Hall of Fame, recognized for more than 10 consecutive years of being selected to the list.
The annual list of SuperDoctors, published each May in the New York Times Magazine and available online year round, is assembled based on peer nomination, credentials, and achievement.
