We take seriously our commitment to improving health care and saving lives around the world. Our faculty members regularly travel to international meetings and courses to help train surgeons in other countries how to treat patients using locally available tools and technology. We are pioneers in international fellowship programs, both sending western-trained doctors to low- and middle-income countries and bringing doctors from underserved nations here to Weill Cornell Medicine to train.
We are dedicated to improving health care in this East African nation. Learn more >
Global Neurosurgery Fellowship Summit 2021
We convened more than 100 participants from all over the world to review the state of neurosurgery fellowships, with the goal of establishing standards for excellence in these programs. The result of that summit is "Future Directions for Global Clinical Neurosurgical Training: Challenges and Opportunities," recently published in World Neurosurgery.
The Weill Cornell Medicine Neurosurgery Program in Tanzania, started in 2008 by Dr. Roger Härtl, focuses on Bugando Hospital in northern Tanzania and on the Muhimbili Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Institute in Dar es Salaam.
