We are proud to have eight of our neurosurgery faculty members included in New York magazine’s annual list of “Best Doctors in New York.” The list, published this week, names the top primary doctors and specialists in the New York metropolitan area. These outstanding doctors are a small subset of the 6,000 names in Castle Connolly Medical’s list of Top Doctors: New York Metro Area, published each April. This year’s “Best Doctors” issue of New York includes 1,390 of nearly 6,000 doctors on the Castle Connolly list. The department is honored to have such a large presence on this distinguished list.
The 2019 list includes Dr. Philip E. Stieg, chairman of the department of neurosurgery and neurosurgeon-in-chief; Dr. Mark Souweidane, vice chair of the department and director of pediatric neurosurgery; Dr. Roger Härtl, chief of spinal surgery; Dr. Eric Elowitz, vice chair for quality and patient safety and a specialist in minimally invasive spine surgery; and Dr. Theodore Schwartz, director of anterior skull base and pituitary surgery as well as director of epilepsy surgery.
Three of the additional faculty we share with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center are also named on the list: Dr. Mark Bilsky, Dr. Cameron Brennan, and Dr. Viviane Tabar.
These eight neurosurgeons are joined by four additional faculty members named to the Castle Connolly list of Best Doctors in New York: Dr. Jeffrey Greenfield, Dr. Michael Kaplitt, and Dr. Robert Snow, and Dr. Martin Zonenshayn at our NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist location.
We are especially proud of our affiliation with NewYork-Presbyterian, which has more Castle Connolly Top Doctors than any other hospital in the United States, and more physicians on the New York magazine list of Best Doctors in New York than any other hospital in the tri-state area.
