Kayla Epstein, PA‑C, MSPAS is a Senior Physician Assistant specializing in cerebrovascular neurosurgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. She manages the clinical practice of Dr. J. Mocco, Chairman of the Department of Neurological Surgery, and works closely with him in both outpatient and procedural settings to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care for patients with complex cerebrovascular disease.
Kayla earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the Pace University–Lenox Hill Hospital PA Program and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from Boston University. She is nationally certified by the NCCPA.
Prior to joining Weill Cornell Medicine, Kayla spent seven years at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she served as Co‑Chief Physician Assistant of the Cerebrovascular Center and as the lead physician assistant to Dr. Mocco. In this role, she led a team of PAs, first‑assisted and performed procedures, and independently evaluated and managed patients across the full continuum of care. She also served as a clinical preceptor for physician assistant students.
In her practice, Kayla prioritizes patient education, continuity of care, and interdisciplinary communication. She is dedicated to advancing team‑based care models that fully leverage physician assistant expertise to improve patient outcomes. Kayla is a member of the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the New York State Society of Physician Assistants, and she has lectured nationally and published on cerebrovascular disease in the AHA/ASA Stroke Journal.
