In partnership with the Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation, the Weill Cornell Chiari CARE program will host a series of lectures and support sessions for individuals with Chiari and related conditions and their families. The two-hour events, which will be held quarterly in 2016, will include presentations from Chiari experts, followed by a facilitated support session for patients and families.
“Chiari patients often have difficult and complicated journeys that eventually bring them to treatment,” says Dr. Jeffrey Greenfield of the Weill Cornell Chiari CARE program. “The condition is often misdiagnosed or inadequately treated, so individuals may need emotional support in addition to information and advice about their medical condition. We are proud to be able to offer them both, and delighted to be working with the Chiari and Syringomyelia Foundation on this new series.”
“We have had great success with support groups in other cities,” says Dorothy Poppe, Executive Director of the Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation. “We are delighted to finally be able to offer this resource in New York, where the need is so great, and we are proud that Weill Cornell chose us to be their partner in this endeavor.”
The first meeting is scheduled for April 21, 2016, from 6 pm to 8 pm on the second floor of the Belfer Research Building of Weill Cornell Medicine, located at 413 East 69th Street (between First and York Avenues) in New York. Refreshments will be provided. The event is free, but please rsvp using the link below.
Due to an overwhelming response, we have had to temporarily pause registration for this lecture. If you would like to be added to a waiting list, please email Kaitlyn Esposito at kesposito@csfinfo.org. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are absolutely thrilled at the enthusiastic response from patients and families!
