For many families, back to school means seizure action plans, medication schedules and conversations with teachers and school nurses. But for the roughly one in three children whose epilepsy doesn't respond to medication, families are often left wondering what comes next. Join our educational webinar from Weill Cornell Medicine to learn how and when surgery becomes part of the conversation for childhood epilepsy. Dr. Caitlin Hoffman, MD, a board-certified neurosurgeon at Weill Cornell Medicine specializing in pediatric and adult epilepsy surgery, will walk you through the signs that a child's epilepsy may be drug-resistant, how children are evaluated for epilepsy surgery and the range of surgical options available today, from minimally invasive procedures to neuromodulation. Dr. Hoffman will also discuss how early intervention can improve long-term outcomes and how Weill Cornell Medicine's pediatric epilepsy program brings together a multi-disciplinary team to support children and families at every step.
