Michelle Buontempo Appointed Chair of APP Committee of the Pediatric Section of the AANS

Michelle M. Buontempo, senior nurse practitioner and pediatric neurosurgical craniofacial program coordinator at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Department of Neurological Surgery, has been appointed chair of the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Committee for the Joint Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).

Buontempo’s appointment is a distinguished honor, recognizing her leadership among a competitive group of advanced practice providers and programs across North America. She will serve a two-year term leading the APP Committee, vital in advancing clinical practice, education, and research within pediatric neurosurgery.

In this role, Buontempo will guide initiatives to engage and support APP members, foster professional networking, and promote best practices through research and clinical updates. The committee also liaises with the section’s Executive Committee on APP practice and involvement issues, contributing to membership engagement and conference planning efforts.

Buontempo has extensive experience in multidisciplinary care coordination for craniofacial patients and has been instrumental in advancing pediatric neurosurgical care at Weill Cornell Medicine.
