Joany Casiano, Medical Assistant at the Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center, was presented with a Weill Cornell Medical College Shared Values Award at a ceremony today. The Shared Values program recognizes extraordinary college employees who go above and beyond their job duties and who exemplify our staff’s commitment to putting our values into practice.
Joany, who is certified as both a registered medical assistant and a registered phlebotomy technician, has been with the Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center for three years. “I love working for neurosurgery,” she says. “Knowing that I can make a difference by helping those in need is my daily motivation. The first impression is the one that counts, so everything I do I do with a positive attitude and a smile on my face. I treat every patient the way I want to be treated – with love, caring, and understanding.”
Practice Manager Connie Zapata notes that Joany is much more than a medical assistant. “She is always willing to help out at the front desk to check in patients, always willing to step in when needed in order to keep the practice running smoothly,” Connie says. “Joany regularly goes out of her way to accommodate our patients’ needs, from providing them with a map of the hospital if they are lost to going to Patient Services to obtain a wheelchair. Her work ethic goes above others and she takes pride in her job and in the reputation of Weill Cornell Medical College.”
We can’t think of anyone who personifies our commitment to our shared values more than Joany does, and we congratulate her on this prestigious award.
