Rohan Ramakrishna, M.D., an award-winning neurosurgeon specializing in the treatment of brain tumors and other tumors of the central nervous system, has been appointed to the clinical faculty of the Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center. Dr. Ramakrishna has expertise in treating gliomas, metastatic tumors, skull base lesions, and pituitary disorders, using advanced awake mapping, imaging techniques, and microsurgery to ensure maximal tumor removal and achieve the safest possible surgical outcomes.
In announcing Dr. Ramakrishna’s appointment, department chair and neurosurgeon-in-chief Dr. Philip Stieg said, “We are very proud to have such a talented brain tumor surgeon available to our patients, and we especially look forward to the new clinical trials for malignant gliomas he will bring to Weill Cornell.”
Dr. Ramakrishna earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Washington. He went on to complete a fellowship in neurosurgical oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He has published and spoken extensively on the topics of brain tumor biology and therapeutics. His research interests include novel drug delivery strategies to treat malignant brain tumors and skull base tumors using advanced polymer and nanoparticle technology.
