Dr. Jared Knopman has been given the Leonard and Fleur Harlan Clinical Scholar Award, effective October 1, 2014. The award was established in 2007 from a $1 million gift made by the Harlans to support an outstanding junior faculty member in the field of neurological surgery. Dr. Roger Härtl, now a full professor and chief of spinal surgery, was the first Leonard and Fleur Harlan Clinical Scholar.
The Clinical Scholar Award is granted for an initial period of three years to an outstanding junior faculty member who is either assistant or associate professor. The award is renewable, at the dean's discretion, for a second consecutive three-year period.
