Marjan Alimi, MD

Senior Clinical Research Fellow, Spine Service

Marjan Alimi is the senior clinical research fellow in spine at Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center. A graduate of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran, Dr. Alimi joined the department of Neurological Surgery to conduct her research under the supervision of Dr. Roger Härtl.

Dr. Alimi’s research is focused on the clinical outcomes of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery techniques. She has worked on projects looking at the mid-term and long-term radiographic and clinical outcome of MIS surgery and comparing them to the conventional open, more invasive surgery. Weill Cornell has offered her the opportunity to work with international spine surgeons who visit the Weill Cornell Brain and Spine Center for short-term fellowships.

Along with her clinical research, Dr. Alimi has been interested in the Biological Spine Tissue Research, the goal of which is development of biological treatment for the various pathologies of the spine. This project is being conducted in cooperation with the biomedical engineering department of Cornell University in Ithaca.

During her fellowship at Weill Cornell, Dr. Alimi has also cooperated in a number of non-spine projects, including Brain Trauma and Tumors under the  supervision of the Neurosurgery faculty.
