Dr. Spinelli earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Johns Hopkins University and the New York University School of Medicine, respectively. He was formally trained in ophthalmology at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital; in general surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian; and in plastic surgery at New York University. Additionally, he has subspecialty training and expertise in craniofacial, aesthetic, and microsurgery.
Dr. Spinelli has gained national and international recognition in the areas of craniofacial, oculoplastic, and aesthetic surgery and he lectures, teaches, and writes extensively in these areas. He currently holds faculty appointments at Weill Cornell Medical College as Clinical Professor of Surgery and Clinical Professor of Neurological Surgery and has served on the faculty of Yale University as the Director of Craniofacial Surgery. He is board-certified in both ophthalmology and plastic surgery, with membership in numerous professional societies. Dr. Spinelli is currently on staff at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary; he is also a consulting member of the staff at Yale-New Haven and Greenwich Hospitals.
Dr. Spinelli has been named one of the "Best Doctors in America" in the Northeast region and has been included in New York Magazine's Best Doctors in New York since 2001. In February 2010 Dr. Spinelli was named Editor-in-Chief of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Journal, the official journal of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. In addition to his private practice and teaching responsibilities Dr. Spinelli continues to participate in charitable organizations providing medical care.
