Since Newsweek and Statista started ranking specialized hospitals in 2021, the neurosurgery service at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University has been at the top of the list. When the 2024 lists came out earlier this month, it was a hat trick – for the third year in a row we are the #1 hospital for neurosurgery in New York, and one of the very best in the world. (Yes, in the world.)
“We are of course proud to be recognized for the excellent work we do,” said Philip E. Stieg, PhD, MD, Chairman and Neurosurgeon-in-Chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Margaret and Robert J. Hariri, MD ’87, PhD ’87 Professor of Neurological Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine. “We are also humbled – there are other excellent neurosurgery programs around the world, and we are gratified to be counted among them. To be recognized as the top neurosurgery service in New York – best on the East Coast – is gratifying indeed. We are grateful for the excellent facility we have here at NewYork-Presbyterian, and for our expert colleagues uptown at Columbia.”
