Newsweek and Statista named Dr. Roger Härtl and Dr. Daniel Riew among America's Leading Doctors 2025, recognizing both Weill Cornell Medicine neurological surgeons as top spine specialists nationwide.
The prestigious ranking evaluates surgeons based on performance data, peer recommendations, quality of care ratings and professional certifications.
Dr. Härtl, the Hansen-MacDonald Professor of Neurological Surgery and Director of Neurosurgery Spine at Weill Cornell Medicine, is a world-renowned pioneer in minimally invasive spinal surgery and computer-assisted spinal navigation. His clinical expertise focuses on spine surgery for degenerative conditions, tumors and trauma, as well as biological approaches for disc repair.
Dr. Riew is an internationally recognized expert in cervical spine disorders and one of only two or three surgeons worldwide to limit his practice entirely to the cervical spine. He has performed more cervical spine procedures than almost any other surgeon globally, with patients including celebrities, athletes and world leaders. Over the course of his career, he is consistently listed as one of America's Top Doctors and Best Doctors in America.
Both surgeons are part of Och Spine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, which provides comprehensive spine care through an interdisciplinary approach.
