Dr. Peter Grunert, a fellow on Dr. Roger Härtl’s research team, has won the Mayfield Award for Basic Science, which will be presented this week at the annual meeting of the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves. The Mayfield Award is presented each year to a neurosurgical resident or fellow who authors an outstanding manuscript on laboratory or clinical research in spinal or peripheral nerve disorders. Dr. Grunert’s award is for his paper on the disk engineering and annular repair work being conducted by Dr. Härtl’s team.
