Shilpa Nilavarath is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner who works with Dr. Michael Virk's practice at both the lower Manhattan location and our main campus on the upper east side.
Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Shilpa spent four years working as registered nurse in the surgical and neurosurgery critical care step-down units and one year as the nursing care coordinator of the step-down units at NewYork-Presbyterian/Brooklyn Methodist. While working in critical care, Shilpa took care of post-operative surgical, neurosurgical, and epilepsy patients.
Shilpa received her undergraduate degree from Long Island University and completed her graduate degree at the College of Staten Island. She is currently in the process of completing her DNP at the College of Staten Island. Shilpa is dedicated to providing high-quality care to her patients through communication and effective patient-provider relationships.
