Fan Yang

Visiting Graduate Assistant

Fan Yang is a visiting graduate assistant in Dr. Theodore Schwartz’s epilepsy laboratory. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine degree from Jilin University in China, and is currently working on her PhD. In her current work in Dr. Schwartz’s lab, Fan Yang is investigating the spatiotemporal dynamic of neuronal and hemodynamic changes during acute ictal events. Neurovascular coupling based functional brain technology (eg fMRI, SPECT) is often applied to identify the epilepsy focus in clinic but its mechanism during ictal events is still unclear. Fan Yang  is dedicated to identifying the epileptic focus more accurately by mapping the epileptic activities based on the neurovascular coupling mechanism. Fan Yang's work may help to interpret the functional imaging maps in clinical practice.
