Carlos Castro is a board-certified physician assistant (PA) who provides care for neurosurgical inpatients at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1998. He subsequently worked as a perioperative nursing assistant at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he developed a strong interest in surgery and oncology.
Carlos earned his master’s degree from Emory University’s School of Medicine PA program in 2003, where his final project was on stroke prevention. After graduation, he worked in family medicine before settling into a position in outpatient cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital for several years. In an effort to expand his scope of practice to include his diverse interests in medicine and surgery, Carlos joined the neurological surgery team at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients before, during, and after surgery.
